The Cops for Kids project provides an opportunity for participation by all members of the Anaheim Club. The members participate through fund raising, tutors, mentors and leaders in the project. The program includes an “after school center” where the participants go after school to feel save, have fun and meet new friends. Every day, the center provides lessons that include literacy skills, service and safety topics. The curriculum is based on literacy, letter writing, oral presentations, healthy lifestyle and creating one community project that will impact the city. The book, The Giving Tree, was the basis for this year’s program. There is also tutoring and a homework club as well as the chance to learn karate or boxing. The students are held accountable for their grades and school attendance.
